Eyewitness reporters have recorded that they had not seen anybody fight so bravely after having seen so many killings in a few hours time in his own family.
At last, Shameer Ibn Ziljawshan collected his troops and asked them to attack Husayn from all directions at the same time, which they did. Husayn fell from his horse, not far from the tent where his sister Zaynab stood watching the battle apprehensively. When Shameer proceeded to behead the fallen Husayn, Zaynab looked to Umar Ibn Sacad and said:

'O son of S'ad, you will watch while Abu Abdullah will be killed.'

At the same time a young boy ran out of the tent and watching the assassin approaching his uncle, stretched his hands out and said:

'O please do not kill my uncle'

But the blow had struck and the boy's both arms were severed.

In spite of all the fighting and crowding, nobody was prepared to behead the grandson of the Prophet. At last it was Khawli and Shameer together who did it and Husayn's head was raised on a lance, Umar Ibn S'ad's commanders started congratulating him for winning the battle of Karbala.

On Yazeed's express wish, Umar Scad ordered that Husayn's dead body be trampled under hoofs. Husayn's camp was plundered. Everything including the ladies' cloaks were looted. Even earrings from Husayn's four year old daughter's ears were snatched brutally and she bled. The goat skin on which Zaynul Abideen lay in fever, was pulled away.

Huraian
Islam telah menekankan bahawa seorang wanita itu berkewajiban menguruskan rumahtangga, anak-anak dan suaminya sebaik mungkin. Ruang lingkup tugasnya adalah memelihara rumah dan harta yang ada di dalamnya. Selain daripada hadith di atas Rasulullah juga ada bersabda; "Wanita Quraisy yang solehah adalah wanita yang sangat menyayangi anaknya yang masih kecil dan sangat menjaga suaminya dalam soal miliknya." (HR. Bukhari). Pujian Rasulullah terhadap golongan wanita ini adalah sebagai menunjukkan tentang betapa wanita itu memiliki peranan dan fungsi yang amat penting dan terhormat dalam mendukung kecemerlangan sesebuah keluarga hingga menyamakan darjatnya dengan kewajiban pergi berperang bagi kaum lelaki yang menjanjikan syahid bagi mereka sebagaimana sebuah kisah yang diceritakan oleh Anas bin Malik: "Satu hari beberapa wanita mendatangi Rasulullah s.a.w dan bertanya: "Ya Rasulullah. Kaum lelaki kembali dengan membawa pahala perjuangan di jalan Allah; sedang kami tidak mempunyai cara untuk mendapatkan seperti mereka?" Mendengar ini baginda pun bersabda: "Jangan takut, tenanglah kalian! Mengurus rumah tangga kalian masing-masing dengan sungguh-sungguh dapat mengejar pahala syahid di jalan Alah seperti mereka."

Husayn came back to his tent and went to see his ailing 24 year old son, also known as Ali (Zaynul Abid-een) who was in high fever. Zaynul Abideen had no idea what had passed over his father. He opened his eyes and looked at Husayn. When Husayn told him that all male members of the family were already killed in battle, he stood up in emotion and asked for his sword so that he could also go and fight. But the fever was so high that he could not stand and passed out immediately.

Husayn went to see his children, wives and sisters to bid farewell. He came out of the tent, mounted his horse and fell on the enemy troops ferociously. Historians have recorded that Husayn was fighting and killing the enemy soldiers left, right and centre; and he kept saying:

' Do you see how Fatima's son fights,
Do you see How Ali's son fights,
Do you see how Banu Hashim fight in three days of hunger and thirst.'

Dari Umar r.a katanya:”Saya mendengar Nabi s.a.w bersabda:” Janganlah kamu memuji (memuliakan) saya berlebihan sebagaimana orang Nasrani memuji (memuliakan) anak Maryam. Saya hanya hamba Allah. Maka katakanlah:”Hamba Allah dan Rasul-Nya.”

Huraian
Umat Islam menolak ajaran Nasrani yang menyatakan fahaman Triniti (iaitu yang menyatakan Isa adalah anak Tuhan) sedangkan dalam al-Quran Allah telah berfirman yang maksudnya "Wahai Ahli Kitab, Janganlah kamu melampaui batas dalam agama dan janganlah kamu mengatakan terhadap Allah kecuali yang benar. Sesungguhnya al-Masih, Isa anak Maryam itu adalah utusan Allah dan (yang diciptakan dengan kalimat-Nya) yang disampaikannya kepada Maryam dan (dengan tiupan ) roh dari-Nya. Maka berimanlah kamu kepada Allah dan rasul-rasul-Nya. Dan janganlah kamu mengatakan :"Tuhan itu tiga", berhentilah dari ucapan itu. Itu lebih baik bagi kamu. sesungguhnya Allah Tuhan yang maha Esa. Maha suci Allah dari mempunyai anak, segala yang di langit dan di bumi adalah kepunyaan-Nya.Cukuplah Allah sebagai Pemelihara".(an-Nisa’ :171) Maksud ayat ini adalah kita dilarang daripada mengatakan Nabi Isa itu anak Allah sebagaimana yang dikatakan oleh orang-orang Nasrani. Dalam erti kata lain kita dilarang sama sekali memuji atau memuliakan sesuatu makhluk atau apa pun sehingga menjadi setaraf dengan zat Allah padahal Allah tidak beranak dan tidak diperanakkan. Sifat Allah tidak menyerupai sesuatu apa pun!

The Barisan Nasional supreme council has decided at a meeting tonight to issue its errant member, Sabah Progressive Party (Sapp), a show-cause letter on the party's decision to back a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Sapp will be given 30 days to respond and after which the ruling coalition will decide on whether to suspend or expel the Sabah-based party.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is also BN deputy chairperson, Sapp's announcement that it would back a no-confidence vote against the prime minister is "against the BN spirit".
